  1. My favorite book was Night by Elie Wiesel. What made it my favorite was the characters and conflicts. Elie’s relationship with his father felt very real, especially as they struggled to survive in the camps. The constant danger and emotional tension kept me interested the entire time. I also liked how honest Elie was about his thoughts and feelings, which made the story more personal. My least favorite book was Stotan by Chris Crutcher. Even though it focused on perseverance and mental toughness, I felt like parts of the story focused too much on the workouts, and the story didn’t feel as powerful or meaningful to me as Night.

  2. Out of the three books i read my favorite one was definitely the one i was able to chose, which was The Perfect Marriage. The reason this book was my favorite is because it is a type of book that i actually enjoy to read. I like books that keep you on your toes throughout the whole book and that book did. It also allowed me to want to read everyday during class because i got to choose it. My least favorite book i read was A Thousand Splendid Suns the reason for this was because i was absent the day we chose books so i was just assigned a random book. I also don't enjoy reading about the things that ended up happening to the women in the book. So that caused me to not enjoy reading it during class, and i had a hard time getting into it.

    1. It sounds like The Perfect Marriage was a great choice for you. You really enjoyed the suspense and how it kept you interested. Being able to choose the book also made it more exciting to read. I understand why A Thousand Splendid Suns was harder for you. Being assigned a book and not connecting with the story makes it harder to get into.

  3. Out of the 3 books I read this trimester the book I liked the best was running loose be Chris Crucher did a very good job keeping you reading and that was the first book I actually read the full book in my high school time. The characters Louie, Jaspers and Ledecky made the book the best with them are always fighting and arguing in the story so that make the book the most interesting. Night was the most boring to read because it was just about the camps and I have read a lot about the camps in history class so it was just more of the same thing.

  4. The three books I have read are Running Loose, A Long Way Gone, and Night. My favorite book was Running loose for sure because it just kept me interested the whole time and the plot was really good. Louie was a really good character to relate to like his problems with sports and what I can do to not make the same mistakes he did like quitting the team and then regretting it right after and to always think before you take action. My least favorite book was probably Night just because I couldn't really connect anything from my life to it but also didn't get hooked into it and make me keep reading.

  5. Out of the three books I read this trimester Confess, Chinese Handcuffs, and A Thousand Splendid Suns my favorite was Confess because of its emotional parts , intersting characters, and engaging plot. Auburn and Owen felt realistic and so interesting , especially as their past traumas and secrets came out, which made their relationship more meaningful than a typical romance. The unique element of Owen’s artwork based on anonymous confessions added mystery and kept the story interesting. My least favorite was Chinese Handcuffs. Although it addressed serious issues like bullying and suicide. Some conflicts felt predictable, and Dillon’s struggles, seemed to repeat rather making the book less engaging overall.

  6. I enjoyed A Long Way Gone more than Attacked at Sea and Stotan because it felt more personal and emotional to me. In A Long Way Gone, the story is told from Ishmael Beah’s point of view, so you really get to understand his thoughts, fears, and struggles. Compared to Attacked at Sea, A Long Way Gone shows a longer journey and deeper character development. You see how war changes Ishmael over time and how he slowly rebuilds his life. Compared to Stotan, A Long Way Gone felt more intense and meaningful. The stakes were higher and overall; I connected more with the real-life perspective and the powerful message about resilience and hope.

  7. My favorite book I read was Chinese Handcuffs. I understood it completely and it had a lot of emotion and realness to it. It was so believable and all of the scenes were so vivid. The author deeply explained every single detail allowing the reader to picture it in their head. Chinese Handcuffs contained a lot of heavy topics and difficult topics and even some disturbing moments to read about but i loved it. It kept me intrigued and I could really feel the emotion in the book and from the characters. It was such a relatable book. My least favorite book would be the one I chose to read, Holding Up the Universe. I just thought it would be more then it was. It had many boring moments and not enough moments that made me want to keep reading. I wanted more action or substance to it. It was still a good book just not as good as the others I read this trimester.

    1. It sounds like Chinese Handcuffs really stayed with you. The story felt real and emotional, and the details made it easy to picture everything. I can see why it kept you interested even with heavy topics. Holding Up the Universe seems like it didn’t capture your attention the same way. You explained well why one was your favorite.

  8. My favorite book this trimester was The Edge of Summer by Erica George. I liked this book the most because of the characters the plot the conflicts and the theme. Cori felt like a real person. She struggles with anxiety and with trying to figure out her future. I liked seeing her grow and become more confident. At first she is afraid to disappoint her parents. By the end she is standing up for herself and following her dreams. The conflict between her and her parents about becoming a chef felt realistic. Her relationship with Mannix helped her open up and believe in herself. The summer setting made the story feel calm and easy to picture. The plot kept me interested because the challenges felt real. The theme of self discovery and independence made the story meaningful. My least favorite book this trimester was Night by Elie Wiesel. I know it is an important book. It was very heavy and emotional to read. The events were heartbreaking and intense. I had a harder time connecting with the story and the characters. The conflicts were very difficult to read. Even though I did not enjoy it as much, I learned a lot and understand why it is such an important story.

  9. Out of the three books i have read this trimester, night was by far my favorite. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and it helped me understand what the Holocaust and concentration camps were really like more in depth. I feel like it also helped that the book was wrote by an actual survivor and walked me through things that happened minute by minute and what it was like to experience those things. Overall, the book night was a very good read and was definitely my favorite.

  10. my favorite book i have read out of this entire trimester was hands down a long way gone by Ishmael Beah one reason was it was the first book i willingly read outside of class and the story of Ishmael and what events he had to endure were truly interesting and educating making you think what it was like in his shoes with the substance abuse and the death and loss of his family truly makes you consider how thankful you are for your current situation however night was a very close 2nd and I saw a lot of similarities between the 2 novels 1 in traumatic events and mass casualties but also being able to survive the events and have the courage to tell their story

  11. I enjoyed the second book the most which for me was The kite runner by Khalid Hosseini and why it was my favorite book was because its the one that not only kept me most interested but the one that fit my interest the best because of its story line and its plot and the focused plot and storyline that is inside of the book its very to the point and is written so well and i love learning about cultures and different countries and what life is like over there and learning about kite flying actually being a sport i never would have thought of kite flying being a competitive sport. i feel like my favorite part though like i said before was learning about their culture and what life is like over there and what fathers expect out of their son and daughter. My least favorite by far was my most recent book The Road Ahead by Bill Gates and my why is because of how computers aren't really my thing and the way he writes it i really enjoyed the parts where he would talk about his life but the parts where he would just talk about stuff i didn't understand and that i wasn't interested in it would get very boring to me and I'm sure some would enjoy it but i didn't.

  12. Out of the three books I read this trimester my favorite was my choice novel The Crash by Freida McFadden. This book not only had a great storyline but it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I really enjoyed how towards the end it started switching between characters perspectives because it really gave me every characters look on a situation which made the book ten times more interesting. I also like how each character kind of had a different problem going on in their lives and the author did a good job at adding them all together. I would say my least favorite book was I Am Malala just because it was hard to understand and there was nothing to really keep me on the edge of my seat to make me read more which is what I enjoy when I read books. One thing I did enjoy about reading I Am Malala is hearing about a different culture and someone who lives in its point of view because I feel like we hear about other countries living in poverty and a lot of stuff they struggle with but we don't exactly know how much it really impacts them which I think Malala did a good job at showing.

  13. My favorite book this trimester was Marie Antoinette Serial Killer by Katie Alender. I liked it because it was exciting and had a lot of mystery. The idea of a ghost killing people made the story scary and interesting. I also liked the main character colette because she felt real and had real problems. The plot had a lot building up to it and kept me wanting to read more. My least favorite book was a thousand splened suns because it was slower and not as exciting to read

  14. My favorite book I read this trimester was Night. This book was never really a slow-going book. There was always something happening. No matter what part of the book I was in, I always wanted to keep reading more. I liked how the author was also the main character because I feel like that helped make it so descriptive and easier to really feel what was going on. My least favorite book I read this trimester was the first book I read which was Chinese Handcuffs. It was my least favorite because it was a slower book I felt like and it just didn't really make me feel like Night did. It was harder for me to read because there wasn't something always happening and there were slow parts which made it hard for me to keep reading it.

  15. my favorite book i read this trimester was running loose. i enjoyed reading this book mostly because of the age of the charectors, i feel like when i read a book with teenagers as the main charecters it is much more enjoyable because you relate to it more. i also felt like this book always had something going on and was hardly ever boring to read. my least favorite was the kite runner, this book was just boring to read until the last 100 pages where a lot was happening otherwise it was slow and boring and there wasnt anything big happening just baba and amir living their life.

  16. my favorite book was running loose because it was overall just a enjoyable book to read. there was never a dull moment in this book you were always kept on the edge of your seat reading this book and it was always hard for me to put it down. i enjoyed this book because the main character banks goes through so much stuff in this book. for example he loses his girlfriend Becky because she drove off a cliff. and banks believed in doing the right thing no matter what the cost was and he got bullied for it. my least favorite book is the one I'm reading right now called MIG pilot. its not a boring book but there is defiantly some dull moments. its not a boring book but not the most exiting out of the three.

  17. My favorite was Chinese Handcuffs by Chris Crutcher because it always kept me on my toes and was a very good and interesting read. The plot was the best part because of what was happening to Jen and how it got solved and how it got brought up in the story in the first place was mind blowing. A long way gone by Ishmael Biah was my least favorite, it was a good book but in some parts, it was very boring because it was just the same stuff, but when it finally came to the fighting it was really good.

  18. My favorite book this trimester was Chinese Handcuffs because I didn't realize how much I liked it until I was telling my friends about all the crazy things that happened in this book. The characters, plot, conflicts, are all things that some teenagers go through, experience, or relate to, unfortunately. I could feel content recommending this book to anyone knowing they could connect to it, or find interest in it. My least favorite book was my choice book, The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World. It just wasn't what I was expecting when I picked it up, the theme is a relatable topic, but if you're expecting many interesting conflicts or plot twists, you would be heavily disappointed.

  19. my favorite book of the 3 that I have read this trimester is hands down ghost soldiers by Hampton sides the general war topic was a huge piece that had drawn me to read this book it is based off of a true story so many spots in this book that had me on the edge of my seat I love learning about history and info from past wars and battles and this book was absolutely loaded with information there were times where it got really dark and gory in the death camps the characters were pretty cool they were real people as well my least favorite part of this book is the organization this is because it follows 2 different perspectives and sometimes it gets very confusing with what is actually going on and where you are at

  20. My favorite book I read had to be The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle because it fits my style better. I enjoy books that are fun, adventurous, and lighthearted. The humor and action make it exciting, but there are also some serious moments that give the story more depth. Apollo losing his godly powers and having to survive as a human makes the plot really interesting. The challenges he faces, like fighting monsters and uncovering what’s wrong with the Oracles, keep the story moving and make it hard to put down. While Night is an important and powerful book, I prefer stories that balance serious moments with humor and adventure.

  21. My favorite book that I read this trimester was Night. I liked it because it was very interesting and based on a true story which made it more realistic. I also liked how Elie and his dad stuck together in the camps and never left each other's side. I also thought the conflicts kept the story from not getting boring because something was always happening in the book.

  22. My favorite book I read this Trimester was Night by Elie Wiesel. I like this book because it was about war and the Holocaust and I have always liked reading and learning about war. Ellies time in the camps was interested from starvation abuse and hard labor that he faced with his father. This book was always existing with every turn and problem that Elie ran into. My least favorite book was a thousand splendid suns, this book was long and just was boring at some times. The end was about the only interesting thing that happened in the book. The characters were hard to learn about and some names sound like they were just made up. I would never read this book again because it was so long a boaring.

  23. My favorite book this trimester was Craig & Fred because it was about war. Although A Long Way Gone was also about war I like Craig and Fred better because it's from an Americans point of view and I also liked how there was a dog in it who he was best friends with. I also think the book is very easy to read and follow along with and I love how it shows how strong and special their friendship is.

  24. my favorite book i had read this trimester was slammed, mainly because it was the book we got to chose to read and the genre is more my cup of tea than the other books we have read in class. for example when i was reading i am Malala, i was not interested in it at all which made it difficult to finish the book. the book slammed is a young adult romance that has a few twits and turns involved in it, and it was easy for my to follow the whole story.

  25. my favorite book i read this tri was running lose because it was a book i could kind of of connect to and it was just a book that never got boring to read and i really liked it because it was a young boy around my age that was dealing with thing that a lot of kids could connect to and my least favorite book was the last book i chose lone survivor because it was a pretty boring book and it was pretty confusing to read because he would jump back and forth from him being deployed over seas then back to when he was at home and what he was doing in his free time

  26. Which was your least favorite, and why? (You do not need to respond to two classmates for this entry) I hope you found the class enjoyable, and I wish you nothing by success in you future! Out of the three books, my favorite was Verity because it was such a sick and twisted book but it kept my attention the entire time. The characters in the book hid secrets, that later were reveled but then also proven false. My least favorite book was, Chinese handcuffs because it was just really boring.

  27. My favorite book was Tuesdays With Morrie my Mitch Albom. The book focuses on a old college professor dying of ALS. He meets with him every tuesday in the professors apartment and talks about life. Instead of accepting death Morrie focuses on the positives. He can't walk, he can barley move and eat. He needs aid to use the restroom, but none of this slows him down. I enjoyed the read a lot because it teaches a lot of life lessons and teaches a lot about life. Instead of focusing on money and power you should focus on love. My least favorite was Night by Elie Wiesel. It was not a bad read but it was very short and action packed in those short pages. I still feel like it was a slow read but it was still enjoyable.

  28. my favorite book this trimester was November 9th because of the storyline and the characters. the book just drew my attention more than the other books we read because it was about something that really interested me and I got to choose the book. The plot twists made me become more interested in the book, and the conflicts in their relationship was the plot of the book. the least favorite book I read was I am Malala because it took too long to get interested in. the most interesting part about, I am Malala was the end.

  29. my favorite book was women down and i liked it because i didnt have to guess on what it meant and the plot was very interesting and kept me hooked the whole time. with some books the slow parts are really boring but even in this book or colleen hoover in general i didnt feel that way. when theres a huge change like when petra's kids showed up to her cabin i was really shocked because she didnt even tell us she had a husband and then ended up with two kids. my least favorite would be a thousand speldid suns because of the way it was wrote and when the other lanuage was used in the book with no translation

  30. My favorite book to read was Woman Down by Colleen Hoover. This was my favorite book to read because the story behind it was like nothing I've ever heard before and the plot twists really kept me hooked on the book. Everything that happens in the book is super interesting and just makes you want to learn more and keep reading. My least favorite was probably Chinese Handcuffs because I feel like a lot of the plot is lost and a lot of it was just really confusing.

  31. Of the three books I read this trimester my favorite one was Night by Ellie Wiesel. I didn’t just like this book because it was a shorter read but I also found it very interesting. The experiences that Ellie had to go through, I couldn’t even imagine. There was a lot of detail, although some of it was hard to picture, it added to the story and made it very entertaining. My least favorite was The Kite Runner. It was a very long story and it kind of felt like it just kept dragging on. It didn’t really interest me at first and it didn’t interest me when I finished it.

  32. Believe it or not, my favorite out of the three I read was not my choice book. My favorite book was the first one I read, Stotan. I loved the real-world examples and the way Chris wrote. My favorite part of the book though was Walker and his leadership and dignity. He wasn't the strongest or the toughest, but he was the best leader. He wasn't like your typical leader or hero you'd expect that can do anything and is super good looking and strong and just a freak athlete. He was a good athlete, but what made him a good leader is the fact he kept the team in line and put the team first. he listened and helped everyone when they had their own problems and faults. To me there's no better leader I would want to lead my team if had one. I was very happy with all books I choose but the one I'm most satisfied with is Stotan by Chris Crutcher and if you haven't read it go now. It's a great book.

  33. of the 3 books my favorite was the personal book harris and me. the reason it was my favorite was because of the activitees the boys do it reminds me alot of my own child hood and just makes me think of the farm i really ennjoyed this book and would recomend it to anyone who likes the country living life. and as a least favorite i would have to pick night just simply because it was so sad and there was so many visuals that the authour gave that made it harder to read still a great book just sad at times.

  34. Out of the three books I've read, my favorite was the one I chose which was the women by Kristin Hannah. This book was my favorite because I was more interested in reading about what it was like for the nurses in Vietnam than I was about the other books. I loved how the author's words just flowed together throughout the whole book which made it a quick read. I thought it was sweet of the author to write about the nurses of war because they are often unrecognized. My least favorite book was staying fat for Sarah Byrnes because It just wasn't that interesting to me. I understand the authors purpose and the theme of the book mean well, but I think lots of books have similar themes.

  35. Out of the three books I've read this try my favorite was most definitely running loose by Chris Crutcher. The reason being is because i feel like it was just overall much easier to relate to relate to due to the fact that it is based on someone who is in high school by the name of Louie Banks. the reason why i found it so enjoyable i found it so enjoyable was because there was always something going on in the book like weather it was conflict between the football team, the school board or something tragic happening within his love life the book always had me wanting to read more.

  36. Of the three books ive read, my favorite one was my personal book that i read runaway twin. the reason it was my favorite was just because it was such an easy read and it was easy to get hooked on almost the whole book it had my attention the whole time i could not put the book down and it was such an easy read and so easy to understand and my least favorite would probably be night just because it was so sad and a lot of things were going on so fast and it was harsh

  37. My favorite book that I read this trimester was "A Thousand Splendid Suns." What I really liked about this book was all the different characters and how unique they all were. The author did very well with giving them all their own personalities and showing them throughout the book. I feel each of them played a great role in the book and that's what made it such a good book. The plot and the conflicts were also great as well, it truly made this book interesting to me and wanting to read more. It was fun to read and learn about another country. It gave me a better understanding of how different other places in the world are. Some parts of this book were very surprising to me, and I think that's what kept me so invested in it.

  38. Out of the three books I've read this Tri was "ugly Love" by Colleen Hoover, I think i was just more into this book then the other two because everyone always talks about her books and how good they were and i finally got the chance to actually sit down and read one and then i was hooked. I really liked this book because It almost made me feel real emotions as to what the characters were going through, and how much it seemed like an actually "Teen" relationship. My least favorite book was stay fat for sarah byrnes, I just wasn't really into the book that much and it was kind of just hard for me to read

  39. out of the three books for me I would choose I would the 2nd book, Night by Ellie Wiesel. I didn’t just like this book because it was a shorter read but I also found it very interesting. The experiences that Ellie had to go through, I couldn’t even imagine. He didn't forget to add all the detail for us readers to imagine while we are reading.
